A neatly arranged recovery workspace on a light oak desk, featuring an open linen-textured journal with a fountain pen resting diagonally across a page titled “First Chapter.” Beside it, a closed laptop displays a softly glowing abstract home screen, hinting at an online counselling session without showing any people. A ceramic mug in calming muted teal sits on a cork coaster, with a small leafy plant in a white matte pot nearby. Soft morning light filters through an unseen window, creating gentle highlights on the journal pages and subtle shadows across the desk. Photographic realism at eye-level, shallow depth of field, with the background softly blurred bookshelves, conveying a professional, calm, and hopeful atmosphere suitable for an online AOD counselling service.

A journey of transformation

From Patient to Practitioner

My path to becoming a drug and alcohol Counsellor is deeply intertwined with my own recovery journey. Years ago, I walked through the doors of a rehab as a client, battling my own demons and desperate for change.

Little did I know that this place would not only save my life but also become the launching pad for my future career.

During my time in treatment, I experienced firsthand the power of compassionate care and evidence-based approaches. I learned to confront my addiction, expose the truth and develop a healthier relationship with myself and my inner child.

The Counsellors who guided me through this process became my inspiration, showing me that recovery was possible and the choice to change was now mine.

As I progressed in my recovery, I felt a growing desire to give back and help others who were struggling as I once did. This calling led me back to the same rehab, but this time as an Addictions Counsellor.

My personal experience with addiction and recovery became my greatest asset, allowing me to connect with clients on a profound level and offer hope through my own story of transformation.

As a counselor with both personal experience in addiction recovery and professional training, I bring a unique blend of empathic understanding and clinical expertise to my practice.

My lived experience allows me to employ genuine empathic understanding, a core principle of person-centered therapy, in my clinical work.

This experiential knowledge, integrated with the evidence-based practices I’ve learned through my diploma in counselling, enables me to establish a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients – a key factor in positive treatment outcomes.

I hold a qualification in a Diploma in counseling
